Effective July 31, 2010, John Howard Society of Hamilton, Burlington & Area will no longer be providing programs and services formerly funded through Ontario's Employment Assistant Program, which includes Second Career. However, we will continue to provide employment services such as Career Links, S.T.E.P., and Youth Leadership & Ambassador Program.

Starting in August 2010, seven organizations will provide the new Employment Services in nine locations in Hamilton. Job seekers and employers will find a full range of employment services in each of these locations.

Career Links Employment Services
Career Links Employment Services is funded by Employment Ontario is an Adjustment Advisory Program.
Career Links provides support to workers who are on notice of layoff, severance or who have already been laid off. Workers who have been impactedby downsizing, lay offs, or reduction in work may qualify for funding for financial or personal counselling. GED assessment and testing or other employment related assessments and certifications.

S.T.E.P. - Specialized Training and Employment Program
STEP provides pre-employment and education related supports to Ontario Works participants who have limited or no attachment to the labour market and who are experiencing multiple barriers to employment. STEP assists participants to make strong connections to further education and training, workforce readiness and employment.
